Learn cello from a lifetime spent inside the music.
Private cello instruction with Jung Il Park — classically trained across South Korea and Germany, an active performer, and a teacher devoted to building real technique in students of every level.
Biography
From a five-year-old violin student in South Korea to a principal cellist and studio teacher in Orange County — a technique built one teacher, one hall, one country at a time.
First lessons, on the violin
Jung Il Park's musical training began at five years old with the violin, laying the groundwork for the ear and bow discipline he would later bring to the cello.
Turning to the cello
At ten, Mr. Park took up the cello and began studying with a succession of renowned teachers in Korea, establishing the fundamental technique that still anchors his playing and teaching today.
Bachelor of Music, Music Performance
Mr. Park completed his undergraduate performance studies in Korea, sharpening the technical and musical foundation built through years of study with his early teachers.
Diploma
He continued his training in Germany, earning his Diploma at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt and deepening his command of the instrument within the European conservatory tradition.
Studies in Music Pedagogy
After graduating, Mr. Park went on to study Music Pedagogy with Christopher von Erffa and Peter Wolf — training that now shapes how he teaches students of every age and level.
Orchestral and chamber experience
While studying, Mr. Park played as a section member of the Seodaemun Public Youth Orchestra and as a member of the Soregi Chamber Orchestra, building the ensemble instincts he draws on as a performer today.
Associate Principal
Mr. Park went on to serve as Associate Principal cellist of the Korean National Police Symphony, a role that placed him at the front of the section in one of Korea's established orchestras.
Studio teacher & performer
Mr. Park now privately teaches numerous talented students throughout Orange County, coaches for the Orange Community Christian Youth Orchestra, and continues to perform as Principal cellist of the Shekinah Ensemble.
