About the Ensemble

What is ELPIS?

ELPIS — named for the Greek spirit of hope — is an adult cello ensemble founded within JP Cello Studio. It exists for one reason: to give adult cellists a joyful, low-pressure space to make music together.

Whether you played as a child and are returning to the instrument, or you have been studying for years and want the experience of ensemble playing, ELPIS welcomes you. We rehearse weekly, perform at local venues and community events, and share a deep love of the cello.

Membership is open to adult cellists of varying levels. No audition is required — only enthusiasm and a willingness to show up and play.

Member Voices

From the Ensemble

I hadn't played in twenty years. ELPIS gave me a reason to pick up the cello again — and a community I didn't know I needed.

Member since 2021

The rehearsals are the highlight of my week. There's something magical about a room full of cellos.

David K.

Member since 2022

I was nervous about my level, but everyone is so welcoming. I've grown more in one year here than in years of solo practice.
